Baby Play with Plastic Easter Eggs
We did this quick and simple Baby Play with Plastic Easter Eggs activity in preparation for Baby N‘s first Easter!
Previously, he’d already rolled around the occasional plastic Easter egg that found its way to the floor but never had a chance to really explore them. When I found some ridiculously adorable novelty Easter “eggs” at the Dollar Store, I knew that they weren’t just for E, I wanted Baby N to be able to play with them as well. He ended up having great fun with them.
(Baby N was 7 months old.)

Materials for Baby Play with Plastic Easter Eggs:
- Plastic Easter eggs – the more different sizes, shapes, and colors, the better.
- Small, preferably soft basket to hold the eggs (optional).
- Soft scarf as a contrast to the relatively hard Easter eggs (optional).
I had this cute little bunny basket from the dollar store and decided to just place all the different types of Easter eggs into it. {Those flimsy ears didn’t survive for long, though 😉 }

I had regular colorful plastic eggs, transparent faceted ones, and ultra-adorable chick and carrot shaped ones. I put a smaller egg into the yellow and turquoise one to turn it into a simple shaker.
 I placed a soft scarf on top to present the whole thing to N. {I think it was actually supposed to be a St. Patrick’s Day scarf but I thought it was cute, and the colors are okay for Easter, too.}
 N went right by the scarf to get to the eggs.
He was definitely attracted by the novelty items.
So many different shapes and textures to explore!
He seemed to like the carrot best and took quite some time to really look at it from all sides. {The boy has good taste 🙂 }
After a while, he discovered the advantages of the soft scarf and took a little break to cuddle with the scarf – all the while still holding on tight to the chick egg 😉
I showed him that one of the eggs made a sound when I shook it but he was only mildly interested.
He preferred to check out the faceted eggs instead.
Baby N ended the activity by checking the basket again to make sure he hadn’t missed anything,
then tried to fold it up 🙂
