Stamping Sight Words
We love coming up with new ways of learning sight words! Flash cards are super boring, but hands-on practice is fun, and it helps E learn the words without even trying.
E has always loved stamping, and now that I’ve finally bought a full set of alphabet stamps, it made sense to use them for a simple Sight Word Stamping activity!
(E was 5 years and 5 months old.)

Materials for Sight Word Stamping
- List of sight words to copy. {We used our set of pre-primer sight word mini flash cards.}
- Alphabet stamps.
- Ink pads.
- Paper.
This activity is really easy to set up and do.
I put down a stack of sight words, and E read the one at the top before stamping the letters on the paper in the color of her choice.
She chose to stamp each sight word in a different color but didn’t like it when the ink colors mixed a little between words. So she asked for a paper towel and cleaned off the stamps as needed 🙂
After a few sight words, she asked me how to spell “Emilie” (my grandma’s name who died long before E was born) and added the name to her sheet paper 🙂
As promised: Quick, easy, and very versatile!
Stamps are also a great tool for practicing all kinds of spelling words, letter recognition, patterns, math facts, and more!
