Fun themes make learning so much more interesting! Lucky for us, it’s almost St. Patrick’s Day with its many different symbols that kids love. Heck, which adult doesn’t love a pot of gold??!
In that spirit, here’s a no-prep, quick and simple literacy printable for you: Pot of Gold -at Family Read and Cover Game! It’s a great way to review the -at CVC word family in an engaging way when you only have a few minutes.

Materials for Pot of Gold -at Family Read and Cover Game
- Printable file (below).
- Paper.
- Printer.
- Laminator, laminating pouches (optional).
- Manipulatives or marker.
What’s in the Printable PDF File?
This is a one-page, no-prep printable. After you’ve downloaded the file, print the page, get some markers or manipulatives, and start reading the words and marking those you got right. Or challenge your partner to read specific ones. Keep going until all the words are marked.
You can play alone or with a partner, either competitively or cooperatively. If you want to compete with your partner, either use different colors/manipulatives to mark “your” words or print the pot of gold twice, once for each player.Â
You don’t have to laminate, but you can if you want more durability and reusability.
