Regular memory games where you match images are fun, but the idea can be used for many other concepts, too. Math concepts in particular lend themselves to the game idea by matching both sides of an equation.
For today’s printable Mermaid Addition Memory Game, I focused on addition up to 5 using some cute mermaid clip art. I wanted to review what E knows about addition and reinforce her recall of basic addition facts. It was definitely a challenge for her, and we didn’t play for long, but I could tell that the game got her thinking.

What’s in the Printable PDF File?
This is a one-page printable. It includes 10 matches for addition facts up to 5.
The addition problems are represented both with numbers and as two groups of different mermaid images, and the sums are represented as numbers on starfish in two different colors.
Print the page, laminate if desired, and cut the memory cards apart at the darker blue lines.
Make up rules that are appropriate for your kids. Do you have to match each addition problem with the starfish that shows the correct sum? Is it okay to match two addition problems that have the same sum? Can you match two starfish that have the same number, but not the same color?
For a greater challenge and a longer game, you can print the page twice to double the number of matches.
