Cotton Pad Snowman

This past Christmas season, we were all about super simple crafts – they were all E was up for the few times she actually was in a crafty mood.

She had a lot of fun with this simple Cotton Pad Snowman.

Materials for a Cotton Pad Snowman:

  • Round cotton pads.
  • Card stock.
  • Construction paper.
  • Sharpies.
  • Elmers Washable Gel School Glue. {Other kinds of glue will work fine, too, but this is our go-to glue.}
  • Paintbrush (optional).

We had been talking about this idea for a while when E one day decided to actually make a cotton pad snowman for one of her preschool teachers.

She told me which materials she wanted to use – my main contribution was a suggestion not to use white paper for the background 😉

The best part for her were clearly the Sharpies – she really loves those things and doesn’t get to use them enough 😉

Once we’d assembled all the materials she wanted, she poured some glue into an applesauce cup, then set it aside.

Next, she grabbed the scissors and cut a triangle from the construction paper that I thought was supposed to be a nose. She asked me how to make a scarf, and I suggested that she could try a strip of paper.

That was all she wanted to cut from construction paper, and she took the cotton pads and glued them on the card stock.

She didn’t manage to get the scarf to stick on the first try but had to hold it down for a few seconds.

I thought she’d want to make the hat, eyes and buttons from construction paper, too, but she decided to draw them all on with Sharpies. {She didn’t even use the triangle she’d cut earlier.}

I LOVE the hat she drew!

before she decided she was done.

She signed her name

then asked me to spell all her preschool teachers’ names, and names of other people she loves, and wrote them all over the paper 🙂

I love the end result 🙂 This snowman never actually made it to her teacher, it hangs on our wall, and I smile every time I see it.
