What’s in the Printable PDF File?

This printable consists of a single, no-prep page. Download the file, print the page, and start playing. Your kids can use crayons, dot markers, stickers or manipulatives to help with counting.

There are 10 different types of butterflies. A few of them are pretty close in coloring, but for the most part, they’re easy to tell apart. Strategies to keep 1:1 correspondence straight and not miss any butterflies are definitely helpful, though. Make sure to discuss them with your child.

Once all the butterflies of one type have been counted, your child can mark the number at the bottom of the page.

Each type of butterfly shows up between four and eight times.

The following butterfly types are used in this printable: Black Swallowtail, Blue Morpho, Buckeye, Cabbage White, Common Blue, Dogface, Monarch, Painted Lady, Red Admiral, and Tiger Swallowtail.
