Baby Play with LEGO

One of the benefits of being a second child is the opportunity to play with toys that aren’t strictly baby toys and that your older sibling(s) didn’t even have at your age.

Even so, it hadn’t occurred to me to let N play with LEGO at all – in my head, it was always about building something with it, you know, sticking those bricks together. Even E only got REALLY interested in them over the past year – before that, she was never that big on building stuff.

So this Baby Play with LEGO activity was actually part E’s idea, part accident – and very enjoyable for everyone!

Materials for baby play with LEGO:

  • LEGO Duplo. {I linked the box we most recently bought, and whose contents are actually in the images. It seems like we never have enough bricks to go around, so that box was really nice. But of course you can just use whatever LEGO Duplo you have on hand.}

N really enjoyed playing with those LEGO bricks! E also did a great job interacting with him – it was really awesome to watch them together 🙂

E gave him some red bricks and told him all about the color – totally her idea, I loved it!

It was absolutely okay for him to slobber on the LEGOs a bit – I could just wash them off easily when we were done playing.

Chewing was fun, too.

E built him a “house” {and held it a tad too close to his face 😉 }

but he liked it even better when she started taking it apart again and tossing the bricks on the carpet.

With some, he had to struggle a bit to hold on to them – great practice!

  1. Thanks for linking your posts up at Share it Saturday, I am highlighting this one and the Resist Art Snowman on this week’s link up!

  2. Love this since we have 3 boys in the house and it’s all lego, all the time! We even have the old Lego Primos! It never even occurred to me though, that Duplos would work too! Yay!
