Apple Suncatcher Toddler Craft

N has just started doing crafts! The first one he did last month was a Pumpkin Suncatcher. He did really well with it and was super proud of himself, so I figured we’d do something similar again. This time, we made an Apple Suncatcher Toddler Craft!

Materials for Apple Suncatcher Toddler Craft

  • Contact paper.
  • Pieces of tissue paper and/or napkins. {Check the Pumpkin Suncatcher post if you want to know how I used a napkin instead of tissue paper. For the apple suncatcher, I just used one color of tissue paper, but I think it might have been even cuter with two colors.}
  • Black construction paper.
  • Duct tape.
  • Scissors.
  • Box to hold the tissue paper (optional).

I drew an apple shape on black construction paper freehand, cut it out and then cut out the middle to make a frame for the suncatcher. You can use a template if you prefer, although I think that if I can do it, anyone can 😉

I taped a piece of contact paper sticky side up to N’s high chair tray with duct tape – lots of duct tape 😉 He hardly messed with it last time, but I wanted to be sure he didn’t pull it off. He ended up testing it a little more this time but didn’t get serious about trying to take it off.

N started placing tissue paper on the contact paper right away, really exploring the edges this time.

He even tested if the duct tape was sticky – this side of it wasn’t 🙂

and slamming his hand down on top of his craft.

But that’s the good thing about tissue paper suncatchers – it still turns out cute, even if your toddler has the attention span of … well, a toddler 😉

The apple suncatcher hangs right next to the pumpkin suncatcher. N is super proud and still {after 2 weeks} points, smiles, and babbles at them every few days 🙂
