A is for Astronaut Handwriting Letter Mazes
Outer Space is such a great theme for preschool, kindergarten, and beyond! Our favorite book to go with the theme is National Geographic Kids First Big Book of Space. It’s an all around amazing book at an incredible price point. (There are some complaints about pages falling out of the binding in the Amazon reviews, but we’ve had absolutely no problems at all. We also have another book in the series, National Geographic Litte Kids First Big Book of the Ocean, and it’s just as awesome.)
We like to tie our learning activities into fun themes, and today’s printable combines the Outer Space theme with my new handwriting letter mazes series: A is for Astronaut Handwriting Letter Mazes!

E is really enjoying the new challenge these mazes bring for her. She still likes doing the letter recognition mazes, too, but they’re definitely not challenging for her anymore. Bonus points when I make an exception and she gets to use permanent markers 😉
She’s always been big on using printables in her own special way after she’s done with their “real” purpose, and this one was no different. She got a kick out of seeing the letters shine through on the reverse of the paper (thanks to the permanent BIC markers she got to use) and turned the page into a work of art working from the back after she’d completed the maze.
Materials for Letter A Handwriting Maze
- Printer.
- Laminator (optional).
- Laminating pouches (optional).
- Paper.
- Markers, crayons, dry-erase markers, or pencils to follow the maze.
What’s in the Printable PDF File?
This no-prep printable comes in two variations: tracing and filling in the blanks. Each variation has an uppercase, lower case, and mixed case version. That’s a total of 6 different handwriting letter mazes all focusing on A is for Astronaut!
