Simple Spiderweb Craft

This Simple Spiderweb Craft is the third simple Halloween craft we did in a morning before preschool (along with Fingerprint Spiders and our Super Simple Halloween Tree). Each of them basically just took a few minutes, gave a nice fine motor workout, and had a cute result.

To make your own simple spiderweb craft, you’ll need:

  • Liquid watercolors or other types of liquid paint. {You can easily use tempera paint or mix water into your watercolor cakes.}
  • Halloween confetti (here’s a selection of similar items – ours were from Dollar Tree last year, I haven’t seen them this year). {Stickers or foam shapes are a great alternative.}
  • Paper or poster board {we used watercolor paper}.
  • Spiderweb foam shape (optional).
  • Paint roller (optional).
  • Container for the paint. Use a wide shallow container like a plastic plate if you use a paint roller.

We started with a resist spiderweb, just like we’d done for our fingerprint spiders.

Again, it wasn’t easy to get paint into all the gaps with the paint roller, and E needed a bit of help.

Some parts got a bit wetter than they should have been, and she blew on the paint to get it to dry faster 🙂

She put the glue on the spiders the “traditional” way

but also experimented with more unconventional methods 😉

After the first few spiders, she switched to applying glue directly to the paper.

At first, she took the spiders out of the cup we kept them in as needed, but found it more efficient to just dump the last four out and leave them on the table for easy access.

Her finished product was really cute.
