Talk like a pirate day is on September 19! That’s news to you? Don’t worry, it was definitely news to me, but quirky holidays are always fun 🙂

Whether you’re planning to talk like a pirate on that day or any day!), your kids are definitely going to enjoy this cute printable Pirate I Spy Game I made!

Like all my I Spy games, it works on counting, number recognition, 1:1 correspondence, visual scanning, visual discrimination, and more. And on top of all that, it’s just plain fun to explore and find all of the pirate-themed images 🙂

Materials for Pirate I Spy Game

  • Pirate I Spy Game printable (below).
  • Printer.
  • One sheet of paper.
  • Laminator and laminating pouches (optional).
  • Marker to mark the correct numbers.
  • Manipulatives or stickers to mark images that have already been counted (optional).

 

What’s in the Printable PDF File?

This is a one-page, no-prep printable.

Print it out and start looking for images right away. Images used are pirate ship, helm, palm tree, treasure map, pirate holding a parrot, pirate with a treasure chest, spyglass, anchor, pirate flag, and parrot.

There are 5-10 instances of each image on the page. The corresponding numbers can be marked at the bottom of the page, the ability to write numbers is not required.

An alternative way to play with younger kids is having them point out individual images or asking them to find a cluster like a parrot next to a palm tree or two palm trees next to each other.
