Color Sorting with Rainbow Bears

So, my son is OBSESSED with rainbow bears. I’m not kidding! One night, he got up at 1.30 am, took my hand, led me down to the living room, and got out his rainbow bears!

Considering that I wasn’t sure at all that he would be interested yet when I bought them, I count that as a big win 🙂

He also loves the basic color circles I printed out for him and insists on playing with both the circles and the bears on a daily basis.

My toddler's first totschool activity was color sorting with rainbow bears - and he's in love with it! Super simple, but a fun and educational introduction to colors.

(N was 1 year and 9 months old.)

Materials for Color Sorting with Rainbow Bears:

You don’t have to, but I made sure to laminate the color sorting printable because N gets so excited and loves to wave it around energetically 😉 It’s held up quite well, considering.

This is such a simple activity, but N is completely engaged when we do it, and he initiates it every single day: We simply talk about the colors, and N puts the bears on the circles.

Sometimes, he matches the colors

and sometimes, he just has a blast lining up bears of all colors on whichever color circle he wants 🙂

But he always holds out each bear to me before he puts it down and wants to know which color it is!

No matter how he decides to play on any given day, I simply narrate whatever he’s doing, whether it’s “You put the orange bear on the blue circle.” or “You matched the red bear to the red circle.”

Color sorting is also a great sibling activity. E loves discussing the colors with N!
